There are a number of websites and apps that allow you to search for a movie or TV show and display the available options for streaming, buying, or renting. Most of these services are free to use.

Many of them also allow you to create a watchlist and track what you have already watched. They can be helpful for anyone who subscribes to multiple streaming services.

JustWatch

Whether you’re a binge-watcher who plows through shows as fast as they’re released or just a casual streamer looking for something to fill time, JustWatch is a handy tool that helps users find movies and TV shows on the various services out there. The free app is available worldwide (with a paid option, JustWatch Pro, that removes ads and adds more filtering options) and works on the web, mobile apps and in some television sets.

JustWatch examines content libraries from the top streaming tv series and then lists where viewers can watch specific titles. It also offers public and personal watch lists and tracks watched/seen status for each show. Similar functionality is offered by Letterboxd (on the web, Android and iOS) and Reelgood. A few months ago, JustWatch updated its website and apps with new features including improved tracker functionality. This allows the app to keep better tabs on your viewing habits so it can recommend more relevant content.

Reelgood

As streaming services proliferated, and users started to sign up for multiple offerings, Reelgood stepped into the fray to help users manage their newfound wealth of choice. It’s a free service that offers a variety of features, including the ability to track shows and movies across more than 150 services.

It combines popular and less-known streaming options, as well as TV Everywhere channels that are available with cable or satellite subscriptions. It also lets you search for titles that are ad-free, as well as those that can be streamed for free, without requiring an account or payment.

Reelgood aims to find the best match for your interests with suggestions that are based on popularity, trending recommendations and IMDb and Rotten Tomato ratings. It can even track shows that you’ve marked as “Seen” for easy recall if you want to watch them again. It also allows you to search for movies and shows that pass the Bechdel test, which looks for women-focused dialogue or narratives.

Google

The Google search engine is a central part of most internet users’ online experience. As a result, it’s important for marketers to stay abreast of updates that affect user functionality and privacy. Recent changes to search functionality highlight the need for transparency and permission-based marketing.

Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in 1995. They met while visiting Stanford for grad school, and bonded over their shared passions for computers and science. Working out of their dorm rooms, they built a prototype server using discounted parts and credit cards, and secured $100,000 in funding from Sun co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim by 1998.

By 2001, they had outgrown their garage and moved into the Googleplex headquarters in Mountain View, California. The company’s culture emphasized creativity and unconventional methods. Their motto, “Don’t be evil,” was a reminder of this. As the company grew, it acquired many other technology companies and expanded its offerings. It now includes online advertising, cloud computing, computer software, quantum computing and consumer electronics.

On TV Tonight

Founded in 2014, On TV Tonight is a television guide and video aggregator media company. Its platform collates content from multiple broadcast channels, cable TV channels and video streaming providers and allows users to search them from a single interface. The service offers local content for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and France. It also includes bookmarkable TV schedules for some of the largest cities in the United States. On TV Tonight is supported by online advertising and syndication of its listings.
